Chanel Vidal, who just started her sophomore year as a geology major at Iowa State University, was recently featured in a ISU news story highlighting the multiple field work opportunities that she participated in this summer. These opportunities included spending a week aboard the R/V Endeavor on a research expedition from Rhode Island to Barbados, studying structural geology at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and doing field and lab work on an active volcano in the Canary Islands. Chanel received a Dean’s High Impact Award as well as a James V. Aanstoos and Sarah A. Rajala Endowed Scholarship for her work in the Canary Islands. In addition, she was named a U.S. S.N.
